Kent at Its Best: Local Events to Enjoy In Late Summer

One of the things we love most about living and working in Kent is the wonderful sense of community. From bustling town centres and historic streets to orchards, gardens and beautiful countryside, there is always something happening locally, and late summer is no exception.

As August draws to a close and September begins, there are plenty of opportunities to get out, support local events and enjoy everything our corner of Kent has to offer.

Here are a few dates for the diary.

Brogdale Cider Festival: 29th – 30th August 2026

Late summer and local cider make a pretty good combination.

Brogdale Cider Festival returns over the August Bank Holiday weekend, bringing together local ciders, live music and plenty of family entertainment.

Set amongst the orchards at Brogdale, it is a lovely opportunity to celebrate some of Kent’s fantastic local produce while enjoying a relaxed day out with family and friends.

Sittingbourne Carnival Parade: 30th August 2026

Few things bring a community together quite like a carnival, and Sittingbourne will be filled with colour on Sunday 30th August.

The parade sets off from Milton Regis Recreation Ground at 1pm, making its way through Milton Regis before continuing into Sittingbourne and finishing along the High Street.

With colourful floats, performers, music and local groups taking part, it is the sort of traditional community event we love to see thriving.

Faversham Hop Festival: 5th – 6th September 2026

One of Faversham’s best-known annual events, the Hop Festival celebrates an important part of the town’s history and identity.

For one weekend, Faversham becomes an even livelier place than usual, with live music, street parades, beer, family entertainment and artisan stalls filling the town.

It is a brilliant celebration of Faversham’s hop-growing heritage and a wonderful example of how local traditions continue to bring residents, businesses and visitors together.

Woodfest & Country Fair: 12th – 13th September 2026

For a taste of the Kent countryside, Woodfest & Country Fair at Belmont House and Gardens offers a weekend packed with traditional skills, demonstrations and rural entertainment.

Expect everything from wood turning, horse logging and spoon carving to willow weaving, campfire cooking and pole lathe turning. There will also be vintage tractors and stationary steam engines to discover.

It is a great opportunity to enjoy the countryside, learn something new and celebrate some of the traditional crafts and skills that remain part of Kent’s rural character.

Faversham Scarecrow Trail: 19th – 20th September 2026

The Faversham Scarecrow Trail is back for 2026, and this is one event where the community really does become part of the attraction.

Residents are invited to get creative and design their own scarecrows, whether traditional, funny, spooky or completely unexpected, before they become stops on a trail around Faversham.

It is fun, wonderfully imaginative and exactly the sort of event that gives a town its personality.

Apple Sunday at Mount Ephraim Gardens: 20th September 2026

What better way to round off late summer than with a celebration of one of Kent’s most famous crops?

Apple Sunday at Mount Ephraim Gardens offers the chance to wander through the orchards, buy freshly picked apples and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

There will also be live music from Hullabaloo between 1pm and 3pm, with jazz, jive, swing and rock ’n’ roll providing the soundtrack to a wonderfully Kentish day out.
