Housebuilder Bellway has proposed changes to plans for 455 homes at Willow Park in Iwade. Designs for the Willow Bank estate next to the A249 have been revealed.
Outline permission for the scheme was granted to GH Dean Ltd, which currently farms the land to the east of Iwade, in July 2022. But earlier this year Bellway announced its intention to buy the land, and it is the housebuilder that has submitted the latest, more detailed, plans to Swale council.
What are the latest plans for Willow Park in Iwade?
They show proposals for a range of homes from one-bedroom to four-bedroom houses as well as a new community hall and 100-acre country park. There would be various playgrounds for children, as well as a trail of exercise equipment in public spaces for all ages, plus a sports pitch.
Of the homes, 30 would be classed as affordable - 27 of those would be rented, and the other three available under shared ownership.
The houses will be delivered in two stages, and the company says it will submit a further application for another 11 homes in the future.
“A contemporary, locally distinctive development”
Bellway describes Willow Bank as a “contemporary, locally distinctive development”. The housebuilder describes Willow Bank as “a housing scheme within a country park,” saying “green vistas and breaks between the buildings will allow the country park to merge with the development”.
The estate will lie off Grovehurst Road and The Street, with the country park wrapping around the eastern side of the development, next to the A249.
Details of the plans can be viewed on the Swale council website, under application number 24/503312. If approved, construction could begin summer 2025.
